Stabil gas stabilizer
« on: July 29, 2010, 11:02:32 PM »
Reciently I have had to let my P 250S set up a while. Some time back it sat just a little too long without running it. The carb jets are very small for the low speed running jet-so it will clog pretty easily. I know better and I should have used some gas stabilizer ( like I almost always do). Any way I have had one of my motorcycles set for over a year without running-install battery, crank-VROOM!. this is where the stabilizer really pays for itself. I mix it a little richer than it says. Sure works good. So if you THINK your scoot may sit for more than a few weeks-best add some and you can rest easier-unless you just like to pull and clean carbs. Hope this saves someone some trouble.

Two products that I think work better than Stabil: Seafoam, and StarTron.

..props to SeaFoam!!

..i own some liquid, and the spray as well..

..good stuff!!

..it has, over th' last cpl of weeks, cleared my a50's carbon buildup quite significantly...

..did a plug chop today, and it was hedging toward lean at WOT, in 90+ degree temp...

Your right as far as cleaning up a carb internally,I have used it when a carb is starting to close up the jets some, I have not tried it for long term storage. I do know the Stabil works for that purpose.

I've always used Stabil in my boat outboard when I put it away for the winter and have always had good luck with it.  In fact, I put my boat away last November and had it out for the first time yesterday (been doing too much scootin' and not enough boatin') and it started up on the first crank!
