What is the real top speed of the Xciting 250 Ri?
« on: May 29, 2010, 07:30:10 PM »
Hi All
Can anyone tell me what the real/realistic top speed and the scoots comfortable cruising speed? Also, if anyone could also give the RPM @ cruising it too would be greatly appreciated?  I ask because I'm considering upgrading from my Yager GT 200i which is actually a 175cc scoot.

Thanks

The 250 Xciting is very capable of 70 mph+,  but the Tach runs in the red section, close to
8,000 rpm.   I checked mine against the GPS and the speedometer does read higher than the
GPS,  maybe 2-3 mph.  62-65 is pretty fair  (Speed Limit is 62 anyway) at keeping the tach
rpm's within reason.  Now my Grandvista (also 250cc)  seems to run at 70 with less rpm's,
but this model speedometer runs higher than the GPS.  More than the Xciting.  The difference
in Tire Size probably accounts for this difference.   My roads are relatively level with some
small hills and my trips are in the 1 hour (60-70 mile)  range.  Remember wind speed and direction
is always a factor.

Thanks for the info. That's why I'm trying to find out, I recently took a trip to the Jersey shore from Brooklyn and back and had totally forgot the speed limit on the Garden State Parkway is 65 and I wasn't prepared to do 65 I was planing more on 55 to 60 but the Yager did it flawlessly but I really don't like pushing any machine at it's limits. 65mph at 7500rpm and 70 happens at 8 grand. I want to keep my Yager (love it to death) and pick up a machine 2nd hand more suited for the 65mph speed limits and the Yager for everything else. I think the GV is lighter as well. Ideally I would like to get a bike that will pull 65 and still be 2 grand or more away from redline.

Wow...I forgot about the weight difference.  I like both the Xciting 250 and the Grandvista.
The Grandvista is lower and smaller,  but I can really tell the difference in the wheel size
between the two.  I feel a lot more secure on the Xciting,  but it's so tall,  I have to be really
careful when stopping how I put my foot down.  If the pavement is slippery,  sandy or has
gravel,  be really careful that your foot is close to the bike on the ground.   The fuel injection on the Xciting
makes it a little quicker.
