Kymco Like 4 stroke question regarding variator sliders
« on: February 08, 2016, 07:09:00 PM »
I own a new Kymco Like 4 stroke I am about to upgrade by variation rollers to teflon sliders at 6 grams rather than the stock 6.5 gram rollers. Has anyone experience with 6 gram sliders on their Kymco Like or the 4stroke 50 cc Kymco's?

Hello Benjamin,
I can't help with the LIKE50, I have the LIKE200i.
I have been told that the sliders work like a 1 ounce lighter roller.
I put in the same (roller) weight sliders and did not like the increased RPMs - though it probably gave me quicker take-offs. Went to sliders one ounce more to get the RPMs back to normal.
Hopefully more experienced 50 rider will chip in here.

I checked out your blog. Interesting articles - the driving school adventure!
Impressive blog.
I lived in Paris for 4 years years ago. Never wanted to leave.
So how long have you been in Paris?
Please do keep shooting pix of scooters on Paris streets! I take lots of scooter pix on the roads around here (rural Ohio) but would love to do the same in Paris, NYC or Rome!
Looks like you have the 2016 matte black LIKE?

Your photography is impressive.
My teen daughter likes to google/bing pix of women's fashion on Paris streets. She wishes she could find more pix of it. Any leads? (she hopes to visit Paris spring of 2017 with school mates.)
Take care and ride safe over there.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Lighter sliders yield higher rpms on takeoff for a slightly quicker start.  No measurable change at higher speed.  From 6.5 to 6 grams isn't much of a change, but you'd see something if you have a tachometer installed.

Standard 6.5g are probably ok, 6g ones are slightly better, I have fitted them. It still makes 3g lighter as there are six rollers. Don't go lighter than 5.2 to 5.5 or it will get worse.
