Seat Shock
« on: March 09, 2016, 04:48:36 PM »
Does your seat stay up when you open it up? Mine wants to keep falling down and it is annoying. I didn't want to invest in a new one if it isn't going to help lift it up and stay there. Also is there a way to get a third party shock say like on amazon for cheaper? If so how would one know you are ordering the right thing?

Wayne,
I explored this subject with the Forza - notorious for a weak gas piston to hold open the seat. Cold days it dropped - warm it would stay up.
There are web sites of these lift rod manufacturers - with all the specs. I called...and they gave me a proper replacement part. Much cheaper than a Honda part. Temps warmed so never bought the new part, then sold the scoot.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

SERIOUS! If so, got a link? If it works, don't knock it right. Also, wouldn't that put a lot of pressure on the plastic where the hinge is?

my GV250 does not use a shock - it is a steel coil - the advantage is there is nothing to wear out. At 11 years and 19K miles it is no different than when it was new.  The only thing I did is spray some wd40 on it to lube and reduce rust that was forming.  Shocks if not made right can loose pressure then they fade / fail.
