Always start on second try
« on: April 06, 2016, 08:14:17 AM »
Hi everyone,

This is my first post here! I must confess, I don't know much about scooter mechanics...
I recently offered myself a Kymco Super 8 50cc 2 stroke from 2013, second hand (I'm the 3rd owner).
It has done 4800km.

My first question is about this:

The scooter usually only starts on the second try. I push the button for a second or two, but it doesn't start. On the second try, it always starts nicely.
What can I do to fix that?

My thoughts are:
- battery -> I don't know if 3 years/4800km is a lot, and it needs to be replaced
- spark plug -> I read it needs to be changed every 5000km, but don't know if that would cause my issue

Or maybe it's something else, I'm counting on you  ;D

Thanks!

Mine is the same when the weather is cold. Best I can figure is that because it takes vacuum to start fuel flow, gas doesn't get to the motor right away.

OK that's good cause it's not a big deal then.
Any solution though?
Cheers!
