Saw a Burgman 650 for the first time.
« on: April 25, 2016, 03:06:51 AM »
On Thursday night while riding to kill time I saw a Burgman 650 executive for the first time. (Actually seeing the first maxi scooter of ANY kind other than my Own Xciting 250). The first thought that came to my mind was "Wow! This thing is HUGE!" My SECOND thought was "Wow! This thing is NICE! I want one!"

I didn't ride it. But the owner let me sit on it. And the seating position was very comfortable.
Then he told me how much he paid for it. He said that he paid $3900. And it's a 2008 model. And he was saying how good of a deal he got on it.

That's when I decided that my 2009 Kymco Xciting 250 is a nice bike after all. 😀😄

They are very nice bikes, maybe why I own several Burgman 650's. This MyRoad 700i is my first Kymco.

They're nice bikes as I had several 650's and a 400. Rode my first one to Colorado from Texas with some fellow Burgman owners. It makes a great long distance tourer. BTW, 3800 for a 2008 is cheap.

I'm new to the scooter world. Until I saw and purchased my Xciting 250, I never even knew that scooters existed that were larger than the small scooters that I see many college students riding. Very few others know they exist as well. That's unfortunate in my opinion . Now, I'm longing for the day that I can afford a Burgman or at least a new Or late model Xciting 500. It's a whole new world.

There are three I see everyday on my commute to work. They are awesome bikes and I think of getting one as I crawl along with the rest of the cagers.

It's like the "luxury car" of the scooter world. When I saw the electrically adjustable wind screen, I was sold. If I'd had the extra cash laying around, I would have gone and bought one. I see my Xciting 250 as the workhorse dependable Taurus, the 500 as the well equipped Grand Marquis. And the Burgman as the TOWN CAR.,

IMO king of the luxury maxi is the BMW 600s. I've ridden both the burgers and the beemer and it's the BMW for me.

They look cool but the horror stories of the belt going south is enough to keep me from considering one.

Update: I saw the guy with the Burgman on Tuesday night. And he was riding his Honda Reflex. Said that his belt broke and that he didn't know much about it. But it was going to be VERY expensive because it was SUPPOSED to be a lifetime belt. Sounds like one of the aforementioned horror stories.

The Burgman was nice. But My Xciting is looking better every day! I'll gladly accept less luxury in exchange for a bike that's affordable to fix.

To many owners the "lifetime" Burgman 650 belt means "ain't fixing it again in this lifetime"!
Great scooter with a built-in self destruct feature.
Still....many guys love them....and collect them for spares since broken ones are cheap and plentiful.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.
