Drive Belt Question

We've gone through deep water, I bet at least 18 inches if not more many times and never had an issue. Had the clutch cover off and it was dry as a bone with no signs of water intrusion ever. I'm trying to visualize the clutch intake and I don't remember it being lower than the top of the tires.

That is good to know! Got a little worried for a second when I read that. I would not use mine as a boat by any means but ya know sometimes when your out on your adventure nature trough's some water your way.....

I was a lot deeper that 18", the tires are 25" tall and I had the tires on the belt side 2" under water

Ya I was just guessing on the depth. I know it was deep enough we flooded the floor and my feet got soaked hahaha

if you look closely at the cup holders, you can see the far side is deeper

  The intake for the belt housing is just above the top of the tires, if your in water as deep as the tire is tall then some is going to get inside probably. Not an issue for me as I wont go in water that deep...to many other issues to contend with such as wheel bearings, brake calipers etc. I used to ride in deep water years back but all the extra work was not worth it.  I am very fussy about my equipment and look over everything all the time and as a toolmaker by trade I know what water and crud do to machinery. I set my limit to about the floor board and if it goes deeper,I find another way. What the heck exploring and finding another way is part of the fun. I have a lot of friends that enjoy the deep water and mud running but then I look at how much time they spend working on their equipment, while I am out riding and enjoying myself.

I wont go in water that deep.

I didn't plan on going in water that deep, the soil was slick clay and I was riding the edge and slid into it

So has anyone actually had to replace a belt yet? Curious what that process is like?

   Dealer telling me around 2+ hrs.  Looking at the service manual, getting the stuff out of the way will take the longest. The actual belt change should be simple.  I changed/checked the one on my atv several times and at best an hour but there is a lot more stuff to remove to get at the belt on these side x side's. I figure around 1800-2000 miles I will pull it down and check the belt. I do carry a spare just in case....you know the saying if you don't have a spare you will need it, but if you carry a spare you will never use it....at least I am hoping.
