Malossi-Pollini variators & or clutch's

  My father likes my X500 so much, he may just get one? But he is always worried about having enough power to pass on the hwy. He is not crazy about how many rpm's a scooter run's at hwy/freeway speeds & such. Has anyone mounted one of the mentioned variator's & or clutch assembley's? I know they offer faster excelleration, but do they pull more rpm's at hwy speeds? Or are they lowwer? Also, has anyone mounted an after market exhaust? If so did it offer any more power, or just more noise. As of right now I am not going to touch my 2007 X500 as it does everything just about perfect. Except I will go to the Malossi kevlar belt when I replace the original. I got it about one month ago or so (with 7,250 m on it), and now I am over 11,000 m. I rode it to Strawberry AZ sunday (almost 300 m). And then took the wife there on tuesday. I rode it about 900 miles over a 3 day period. Not bad for a sissy who rides a pumpkin colored scooter!

...i don't think that the clutch will change your top speed much, i would go with a performance variator, which will require roller tuning...an exhaust upgrade will give your scoot more power, but it requires up-sizing your carburetor's main jet upon installation..more tuning...

..i've never looked into performance parts for a 500, but the principles of tuning are the same across all the bores...

There is a fella from the Netherlands that did the Malossi clutch. I hope he is still monitoring the forum to answer your post sissy. Last I heard he was liking it sooooo much he set out on a round the world trip! Or maybe it was just to Barbados... I forget!

installed a dr. pulley slider weight more passing power and a bit higher top end. now installed a leo vince pipe. í'm looooving it! a month ago i rode with 2 xciting 500 and a nexus 500. the the 2 stock xciting could not keep up with our pace. on flat road i was keeping up with the nexus but on uphill i was dropping speed. my indicated top speed was 180kph and on the nexus was 176kph

Drifter, did you install the 28 gram Dr pully's? And did it raise or lowwer your RPM's at Hwy speeds, meaning @ let's say 65 MPH, are your RPM's higher or lowwer with the Dr P's? Thanks.

installed the 31gram, it lowered the rpm at 65 will try  to check it again later but not sure if it would still be the same as before coz i made some modification yesterday on my center spring to make it stiffer.. Have another set of sliders and will modify it to 25g and see what will happen!

Yes let me know if the rpm's changed or not? It would be nice to drop a few @ 65-75MPH. I didn't know Dr P made 31g's for the X500? I thought the highest they made was 28G's! I think the stock weight is 30G's? So it makes since that if you went up in weight, it would drop the RPM's. From what I have heard the Dr P's increase take off speed (zero-60)? How has it changed your performance? Gas mileage change? Thanks, Sissy.

just got home. 100kph at 5.5k, 120kph at 6.4k this is with other mods and with the wife. Will compare it with my dad's x500. Really improves at take off, using my phone's gps before. Stock was in the 12 sec when sliders was installed it shaved off 1.5-2 secs. Have not tested it again with the mods done now.

Drifter, are you saying you have quarter mile times in the 12's or even less??  I can hardly believe that but if so, Wow!! 

I guess my next big thing will be to get some sliders.  Been wanting to anyway but your posts are putting me over the edge. 

Drifter, did you up-jet when you put on the Leo Vince?

no! It's the 0-100kph time. Can't find the records on my pc, as far as i remember the 1/4 time was in the 17-18sec range maybe if a lighter rider will ride it 1 or 2 secs will be shaved. I'm 240 lbs. Leo not yet installed that time. Not yet changed the jets but will try it. On my GV before bolted on polini block, yoshi pipe and other stuff but didn't run smooth when we up jetted. Tried 3 sizes went back with the stock jet.
