Exhaust choices
« on: April 28, 2016, 12:52:28 AM »
Hi everyone. I'm new to this so please bare with me. I have a 2009 kymco people s 50. It has a big bore kit, performance variator and weights, carb and hotter ignition coil. This was all installed before I purchased the bike from a friend. I installed a performance starter recently because it would wouldn't crank without kick starting it. I'm unsure if the clutch springs, torque spring were changed and unsure about the size of the weights. So I want to know what exhaust would be right for my application and springs and if I should change my main carb jet and  pilot idle also. If there's anything else I should be doing at the same time please let me know......cheers

Hello Go Fast, I noticed no one had replied, yet...it may be because it can be very difficult to make suggestions when no one knows your specifics...you said a lot of parts have been changed / upgraded..but to what? It's hard to make suggestions without all of the necessary info..until someone else chimes in..enjoy your new scoot!

I know it's a 80cc big bore. As for the carb either 20 or 23 not sure as of right now I'll take a look this weekend. The rest are things he didn't go in detail with so it's hard to say the weights for the variator (4,5,or 6 gram). No complaints about the performance of the scooter it's my 2nd year with it. Has some good accel. Just want to see if there's anything that I should adjust

Sorry for the lack of info. It's a 4 stroke.

Some scoots have a cylinder head with a small exhaust port, but my Kymco had a bigger port.  A slightly bigger after-market exhaust system might help.  You might have to cut and weld to get everything to fit.  They don't always fit right "out of the box".  You nearly always have to take it apart and measure all the different bits to see what will fit.
