Bitten by the TPS bug! Additional info please.
« on: September 08, 2016, 09:47:54 PM »
Hello all. Now that I have installed my new Like 200i throttle body and all is good I have a question. When I received the new part there was a difference between it and the old part. The small nozzle at the air cleaner end of the intake was missing on the new factory replacement. This nozzle is to connect the air/fuel canister drain hose. On the newer version it is blocked off. Kymco's customer service guys said to simply route the drain hose to the ground. I'd like to know from Like owners here which version you have and where if any does your canister drain go? My Like is a 2012 200i lX.  In the attached pic the older part is on the left.

Usually this kind of dead silence means nobody knows. I don't and we used to have one.

Hi Karl, I figured that at least Stig or Vespbretta would know since they also do their own service. Obviously Kymco changed the design at some point because when I called the customer service they said that all the ones on the shelf were  of the new version.

Sorry...
I have pix of my underbucket area on my Dell but haven't had time just lately.
Will try to have a look tomorrow and post.
Think the relevant pix are here on an old post of mine but can't do forum searches on this cell.

I was wondering. ...
How is your LIKE 200iLX running with the new throttle body, and that hose vented to the ground?
My records show that my new throttle body went on about 6, 000 miles and just under 2 yrs ago. No more driveability issues since then...knock wood.
If not for Karl...I'd probably not still have my LIKE200I. ..since I couldn't fix it and the dealer couldn't find a problem.  Maybe I'd have spent the $$ for a new throttle body on the off-chance that would have worked.
With Karl's Kymco diagnostic tool....I proved the problem part and got a new one under warranty. After only several months. ....
Well. Should mention that Kymco's area customer service rep is the guy who got me fixed after he saw my video using Karl's diagnostic tool read-outs. Ordered the dealer to buy the tool....and baddabing I get a new TB!

Anything to help another road warrior who seems to be an all-around nice guy! Thanks, Tom.

Thanks for the response Stig. My scoot is running fine now with no drivability issues. Having the canister drain  to  the ground seems fine since I am careful not to overfill my tank when topping up. I have to credit your experience with the throttle body change as my reason to conclude that it was at fault. You did all the trial and error work when attempting to resolve your problem and my fuel symptoms were the same as yours. I just decided to get a new part and press on. The fact that the new unit had the inlet port blocked kind of threw me at first but after talking to Kymco I felt good about installing it. I am assuming that if the canister drain still vents into the air intake it must go to a port in the air filter snorkel or it is just as mine does vents to the ground. The one thing I can say about this problem is that if Kymco offered the ECU unit separately from the throttle you could simply change it out and not even have to remove the throttle from the engine! That would also bring the cost down for the part.
