A couple of minutes is usually sufficient. Especially for a fuel injected engine. Anything over a minute or two is counterproductive whether a car or small engine. A cold engine runs richer. Also, warm engine wears less. And the quickest way to warm an engine is by driving it moderately until it warms up.
