anybody clean and lube your calipers?
« on: November 26, 2016, 05:42:46 PM »
front brake has been dragging a bit for a while, now..watched a bunch of youtube videos on disassembling and cleaning calipers..looked pretty easy so I jumped in. Only 2200+ miles on the scoot but the front brake was pretty dirty and had lots of crud / brake dust gumming it up.

Cleaned everything very well, lubed metal to metal with 3M copper grease and the slide pins with silicone paste (per Eric the Car Guy's recommendations). It was kind of cool to see how the caliper all goes together. Put it back together this morning and it works great, front wheel turns much easier now with just a slight bit of brake drag.

Anyone else  clean and lube your calipers? Anyone do it on a regular basis as part of their routine maintenance?..and do they even sell caliper rebuild kits for our scoots (dust seal, square cut o ring and boots)?..didn't see anything online.

Hope everyone's enjoying a good Saturday of college football!
