But fortunately he does
not seem to be seriously injured.
On my way home this afternoon I came upon this downed big bike rider....pulled over and helped neighbors look after him until the squad & county Deputies arrived. Used some of my old Vietnam medic training ---check airway, keep him still, look him over for bleeders etc. etc., for several minutes. He seemed stunned but was oriented in the 3 spheres.
This 35 mph road is 1 mile from my house, and I travel it daily on my scooter.
He rounded a bend, traveled straight some 200 yards and hit a downed 3" thick dead tree branch which had fallen from overhanging tall trees.
Witnesses said he was seen tumbling down the pavement and into the roadside grass....while his bike slid quite a ways down the center of this lane until hitting a mailbox.
You can just see a portion of the wood which he hit and broke causing him to become unseated. (high-sided" he said)
(circled in red)
No helmet or gloves - but was wearing a heavy leather jacket, which now has scuffs but was not holed that I could see.
He's not smiling, but it could have been a lot worse.
Don't know much about big bikes, (an HD?) but seems in fair shape. Other side has the scrapes.
The branch came out of these tall trees. We have had a lot of wind for 3 days.
I had my small Panasonic in my pocket because I was on my way home from taking prom photos.
I asked him if I could take photos for my riding group.....he managed a chuckle.
