Dead battery, fuse, key loose, or loose wire --2009 People 200

Hi kymco forum, bike was running great till today

When I turn key to "on" position nothing happens
Usually digital odometer comes on , blinkers work, and the speed dial
Goes all the way to 100 and then back to zero.  So none
Of these things happen AND OF COURSE THE STARTER
BUTTON DOES NOTHING.
Curiously the speed dial is STUCK AT 25 mph (or around there don't have bike in
Front of me),  which I've never seen before. It's usually at zero.

Possible causes
1) key jam.  I had just gone to Costco and had a giant backpack of groceries.
I put they key in And then was stuffing the backpack between seat and front part of bike on the flat part of the scoot and I may Have messed up the key assembly.
Key came out fine but I noticed it felt loose when I put it back in (instead of
Stopping firmly at the "on" position it feels loose and can easily wiggle to
The "off" position.   Would this cause battery to not engage?

2) battery or fuse. 

I checked the 3 battery fuses -
There is one small cylinder one and it looked fine and
I tried the back up and that made no difference.

The 7.5 (amp ?) brown standard looking fuse looked fine
But didn't have replacement to test.

There were two other small fuses in clear cylinder
But it seemed sealed shut so didn't mess w it .

3) Today is sunny and bike was running fine but
We just got a ton of rain so maybe something got wet.

Any help would be much appreciated before I pay $150 to
tow the sucker to the shop.  Gotta love nyc !

Did you leave something hooked to pet carrier plug?  Could have run the battery down.
Beyond that I'd check would be the battery cables for tightness, & while you're there try jumping it. 
After that try to use the brake lever you don't normally hold while starting it.  Could be a fussy switch there.  My SYM had that.
Beyond that it depends.  There's no kickstand kill on these, so that's out.  It's pretty much down to wire tracing, jumping stuff to bypass switches 'n stuff.
A PITA, but not the end of the world.
Far as towing it goes, you could try to kick start it, or if not too far push it.  The bike's pretty light.

Simplest to determine status of the battery.
If it is good, go for what you know...  You were suspect when insertion of the key into the switch felt odd.

If the mechanical function of the switch is compromised, it may not make the contacts to energize the system, and the starter will remain in-operable until that main switch is repaired
