New/Old Big Wheeled Scooter back in the USA!
« on: May 16, 2017, 12:55:31 AM »
Piaggio Liberty S 150 has returned to the USA.
Nice to have a big wheeled mid size scooter to consider again.
155cc, 3 valve, 12.9 HP, ABS in front, 54" wheelbase*, 77" length, 16"/14" wheels, EFInjected
$2999 for the base model, $100 more for some deco stuff on this 'S' model- same scoot.
THE lowest priced scooter with ABS that I know of.
Cons: mono rear shock, rear drum, front only ABS

* LIKE200i 52" wheelbase.

After 18 years of success and nearly 900,000 vehicles sold worldwide, the New Piaggio Liberty returns to North America. This family of vehicles starts with a great idea, a lightweight, low seat height, fun scooter with large wheels. The lightweight and low seat height make this scooter easy to use, the fun factor begs you to find excuses to take it out for a ride, the large wheels make it exceptionally stable and forgiving for experienced and novice riders alike. This high-performing scooter that epitomizes the contemporary easy chic spirit. The design combines with the highest safety and technology standards, including ABS braking as standard on the 150cc and the new i-get engine family. The elegant and curvy lines of the new Piaggio Liberty are embellished with black finishes and LED front lights to really stand out on crowded city streets. The electrically unlocked seat has sufficient space for a jet helmet with visor and there s also a glove box in front of the rider s legs, while the analogue speedo with digital fuel and distance readouts give at-a-glance information to ease every journey. With front wheel ABS and a performance engine that puts out 12.9 HP (9.6 kW) @ 7,750 rpm and 9.6 ft lbs (13 Nm) of torque @ 6,500 rpm, the Liberty S 150 is particularly lively in both city traffic and on the open road.

URBAN MOBILITY WITH SPORT
The sporty Piaggio Liberty S 150 is available in Rosso Ibis and Grigio Titano Matte colors. Thanks to the dedicated graphics and details such as black rims with machined sides, black mirrors, trim pieces and red stitching on the saddle, the S model is aimed at young and dynamic users.

Good looking scooter Tom. I had entertained the idea of going the Italian route but Kymco found me first.

Benelli Caffenero 150

I looked at a few SSR Benelli scooters in San Diego at a motorcycle dealer. Not very good quality from what I saw, made in mainland China as I recall.

Was looking those over a bit ago.
Nice scoot but closer the S200 in performance than my SYM.
I may check it out in person, but the few extra ponies the SYM has will probably keep me from swapping it out.
That and they didn't release it in that nifty blue they do sometimes.

Nice looking  scoot....16" both ends!
But in my part of the USA one of these would be too much like buying a web scooter. No dealer. Scooter back-up is hard enough in these parts with a well supported brand of scooter!

Not bad looking if you like shades of gray.  I'm a bit meh on that these days.
That said: Less HP, & 10% more weight than an HD200.  Probably same/similar/replacethemnow tires.
Doubtless less expensive, but if setup correctly probably not too insane for reliability, good Chinascoots do exist.
For the extra weight, & less HP you probably do get the simplicity of a GY6.

I do agree with ya.  The new People S150 is roughly the same weight as the HD, with a bit more HP than the chinascoot there, but not available in the U.S.

I would consider it vs. the HD, but it ain't here.
