A very slight chamfer, applied with a file, to the leading edge of brake shoes and disk brake pads may ease a little of the squeaking.
Some disk brake pad sets come with a liquid rubber type goo for application to the backside of the pads to dampen noise...

Machinery really should not squeak, though.  It's probably a sign that inspection is warranted and possible application of lubricant.

It happens when you have semi mettalic brakes pads. Two of my B650's make noise and it annoys me. I think I might have to change the pads to make it go away.

Might want to look at some ceramic pads. No squeak or dust and do not generate as much heat. I got tired of my front chrome alloys turning black with brake dust, on my pick-up. The guy at the auto parts store suggested I try ceramic pads and I've never looked back.

MJR, I have seen other people make large X's using a file across the shoes, attempting to quiet squeaks.
I will Not warrant the mod to safety components.

No auto expert here....but was informed long ago that disc brake noise is due to pad vibrating in its seat. Fix is with a shim to back-side of pad...to dampen contact/vibration.....
Noise source is from back of pad, not face/disc side.
Had a 2002 BMW...we used teflon like shim ....silenced the brakes...tip was from a good mechanic.

Back to days of Alfa Romeos with metallic pads, copper grease on the back of the pads.
