Wet back road
« on: May 22, 2017, 09:27:17 PM »
The warning sign said, 'Road Subject to Flooding' so I Had To take it...  Since we've been under serious drought conditions for 5 years.

Now that I have successfully made it home, it's disappointing to see the T-post growing out of my wind screen and a few other probs with the pic.

Might need to study up a bit on taking better quality pictures...
I will try to do better on B52.

Never seen a yellow Helix redk. Is that a repaint or original?? Looks nice, what ever.

Mac, to the best of my knowledge it has factory made panels.
...and it's the first one I have seen, also !

I can't say it would have been my choice in colors, it is what came down the pike when I had just dug up a tomato can.

Now, it's kinda growing on me, and I suspect might help me out in traffic.

It will never do for a get-a-way vehicle !
:-)

...Perhaps I will take a serious close look at it and look for evidence of a re-paint.
I do think the color is as-moulded, though.

The only yellow I recall a Helix ever having from the factory was the bright yellow in like 2004. Early ones in '86-'87 where either candy red (had one), pearl white (had one), or black metallic I believe. Some brochures here http://motorscooterguide.net/Downloads/Downloads.html .Below is a photo of the '04 yellow.

Here's a site that has the complete history in the US and colors.  There were Chinese companies selling pre painted new panels for the Helix including later model full clones.

Wow!
Thanks MJR !
I shall go to those sites now and have a look.

(Now I shall feel the cast of the evil eye)
I am #3, from what I was told, in ownership.

Oldman #2 said he bought it from the even older #1 who kept running into stuff and was not able to handle it at even low speed.
(He ought it from him to save #1 from injury, and replaced the black strips on either side of the fairing, with china parts.)
Those black parts seem to be of a different composition plastic than the main body moldings.

Sunny morning here in CA...  I will go out now, and look closer at the panels.

Tnx !

MJR, You were Right !

I just now looked it over closely.
The gel coat was applied Very well, professional workmanship, overall.
Base color of the panels is white.
I have found an area of bad masking, another of marginal masking inside the tub, and a sag on the trunk hatch.

Actually, this is good news, for me...  I can do some paint work on this 30 year old scooter and not ruin anything !
Best
