Mac, my Yellow Rocket doesn't carry enough fuel to get out that far so I had not given Einstein computation much thought.

Since you have asked, I might suspect the difference in actual distance pertains to properties of a right triangle.
Perceived size most likely is influenced by light waves travelling through the atmosphere for that further distance at a lower angle presenting a larger amount of diffraction providing magnification.

I must also admit very little time spent contemplating the sound of one hand clapping.

Good one Red. I actually followed your line of  reasoning!  ;)

Mr.Paul,

I have kinda set mopeds and motor-assisted bicycles on a back burner recently because these Kymco scooters are downright practical, cost efficient, and Fun !

Pretty much why I am so pleased to have found this top notch forum !

It's actually much more simple than all that. You see, size is only relevant as it is compared. If your yellow rocket could make it to outer space and you were to fall off and you found yourself floating, all alone, in the vastness of space, then you, in your entirety would no longer have a size. Your hands, feet and any other parts of your body , that you could see, would appear to be the correct size for the body they were attached to, however all of you would be without size. It is all encapsulated in the variableness of quantum mechanics, which is part of the quantum theory that Einstein also said he considered to be one rung above VooDoo. Is this what we write when we have nothing to say? Gee I love physics and wish I could understand it.

Mac, you might be on to something...

They write books about what I don't know !  :-)

Walter Moore retains rights to this, so I thought I'd give him a small pitch...

...while I rely upon 'fair use'...

There were a few other neato images, yet far to large for posting here...
Fun stuff !

Nice pics in the hot, dry West , MJR !

Fine example of a typical trail with those treacherous rolling rock axle snappers which can leave you wishing you had brought much more water !

True. Except this week here in the desert. On 6/20/17 Las Vegas recorded the hottest temp every when it reached 117 degrees at 4:07 local time. I heard Phoenix got even hotter than we did. Hell has literally come to Vegas. You go outside and it literally feels like an oven. We just have the extreme heat out here. September can not come soon enough.

When i was a kid hitching across the U.S., I remember looking up at this temp. sign on a bank or pharmacy. It read 111, or 121....can't  recall.
This was in Needles or 29 Palms....some place like that.
Just remember thinking, "crap!, doing fine till I saw that!"
Dry heat....beats the heat in S.E. Asia.
A Marlboro there tastes like you lit a moist insect.
good times...

Yelp, Stig, I do remember that terrible moist heat in S. E. Asia. Your clothes would get mildewed just hanging in a locker and always kept a good case of crotch rot in the summer. I also remember the monsoon. Stayed wet 24/7. All that just makes us appreciate the good old U.S. of A. all the more.
