Black/Ivory question

Thrilled beyond belief because my wife ordered me a People 150 for father's day. Should arrive at my dealer next Thursday.

I love the look of the black/ivory. It's very sharp. Can anyone tell me for certain if the 2010 has the little accent stripe of ivory on the rear fender. In pictures online I've seen it both with and without the stripe.

It's real easy to have a paint shop match up some pinn stripe for you. I usually charge 40 bucks to do basic accents. Welcome to the forum!

thanks for the reply, Zombie. It's more of a strip than a stripe.

If you look at the current page for the P150, http://kymcousa.com/showroom/scooters/people150/index.html you'll see that the top image shows a scoot with a cool little accent of ivory/white on the back fender. But if you look at the black version using the color picker at the bottom, the strip is absent.

Just a curious thing to me. But then again, I'm extraordinarily detailed.

I'll bet yours is gonna have the ivory swoosh.  Bet some tech just forgot it when setting up the color picker pics.

I see what you mean. The photo looks like it may be a bolt on part. You may want to trade the dealer for one (2) if yours doesn't have it.

Now, yet another question from a newbie. I'm already 1/3 of the way towards the initial 300K maintenance. When I was shopping for a scoot I asked a dealer about doing my own oil changes he suggested that one should at least bring the scooter in for the first oil change because a trained tech would know to look for potential issues.

Do you all agree? Should I perform the first oil change myself? Or pay $65 for a local shop to do it?

Oh, good!  And it has the ivory accent you wanted, too!

Oil change: With tax, our shop charges $54.02 for a basic oil change, and we have a 9.25% sales tax, so that sounds a little high, but if you can afford it, it doesn't hurt to let a good mechanic give the bike a good once-over at this service level. Then, do the next couple of oil changes yourself, and take it back to the shop for change #4. You want to build a good relationship with your dealer if they're a good one, and they will save you a ton of money in the long run if you periodically let them service and inspect the bike.

I have only ever bought one new bike and when I asked about doing oil changes my self I was told that in the event of a warranty claim the first question is "who did the first service". So it may be worth letting them do at least the first one, if for nothing other than to protect your warranty.

Again, thanks for all the input. In less than a week of ownership, I've already racked up 300 kilometers.

I called a very reputable local dealer/service facility to schedule maintenance. (It's a different dealer than where I bought the scooter. I had to drive a considerable distance to buy the color I wanted. And it's not feasible to go there for service.)

When I said I was ready for my 300K service he suggested I wait more like 500-600 miles. He said that 300 kilometers was based on Asian driving, more stop and go. And 500-600 was more appropriate for the type of scooting I'm doing.

I really trust the guy. I just wanted to run by you folks.

Just be aware that if you do make a warranty claim they will question why you have not serviced at the recommended intervals, I don't want to be a wet blanket, but just bear that in mind. anyway, hopefully you wont need a warranty claim. happy scootin'.
