New guy with old scoot.
« on: July 03, 2017, 02:54:15 AM »
I'm new on the forum as I joined to research all I can on the 500 xciting.
I'm looking at a 2007 (carb) model.
It has some little things that will need attention. Nothing serious, though.
Extremely low mileage, but runs perfectly. Looks... um... ah... let's just say I'm going to go through a few bottles of Black Restore.  :P
Scratches here and there. It's from drunks at a party that knocked it over. >:(
Rust on the bottom of the shocks, rear reflectors brackets, various screws that are exposed.
Me thinks it spent it's life outside, uncovered. ::)

Here are the before pictures:

Welcome Rick! I hear ya about the black restore. On my Helix, I had to repaint with Krylon Fusion Plastic paint in a satin black. So far, so good. Enjoy the ride!

I have a 2007 with over 70 miles. Stator died at 55,000 or so. No starting issues like the fuel injected bikes. Your carb diaphragm will get holes in it. I would change it now. They dry our, or the gas kills them? If your bike won't go over 50 MPH? Thats your problem. :-*

Yes, welcome! Will be interesting to see your posts on that machine if you get it. Sounds like you have some good input, already! This is where you find one or more right ways to actually fix your problems if you have any!
