Pics from a small museum
« on: June 27, 2010, 11:23:36 AM »
G'day all, I realise these are not scooter pics, but I hope it is ok to post them. Last year we went to Peterborough to visit my wife's Nanna and while we were there we had a look at a new place a couple had opened up. It is a bed and breakfast with a sort of museum as well. I was surprised at his collection of old and unusual bikes. I thought I would post these pics as maybe some people would appreciate them.

Not sure what this one is, Mrs. sid reckons it was a French racing bike. wouldn't want loose trouser legs with this one.

It says Rennmaschine on the plate on the front mudguard, it means "race bike" in German.
I guess it is German/Austrian bike. Could be NSU, DKW, Rotax, BMW or something like that.

Have to do these in separate posts.

Compare this bike to this Tomos (now Slovenian, ex. Yugoslav bikes brand, has been producing bikes for the past 70 years or so):

Amazing similarity, eh? Somebody was a copycat in those times.

Yeah,we visit Peterborough fairly regularly and when I saw that was there just had to have a look.
There is another mid north town that has a Steam and Traction Rally every year, I think it is in April. For years I have wanted to go and have a look but have never been able, always either working or not enough money to go, but, maybe one day. It is good to see old machinery that has been maintained or restored, be it cars, bikes or farm machinery.
