Charging system output
« on: August 30, 2017, 01:54:06 AM »
Anyone know the max output in amps of any Kymco charging system? Specifically for DT300i? Xciting series? This is connected to the "bright idea" posted elsewhere.

The MyRoad 700i service manual says mine is rated at 300 watts/5,000 rpm.

P=EI where P is watts, E is volts and I is amps so I=P/I or 300/12= 25 amps. That is right for a 30 amp fuse in the charging circuit. That what is in your 700i?

Whereas the charging voltage is higher the available current gets reduced but yes the circuit is protected by a 30A fuse and shown in the manual.

Thanks, MJR, that confirms the charging systems are pretty consistent  among the models. Probably use the same parts since the rect-reg is the same part number for nearly all the 250, 300 cc and up. Since the 30 amp fuse seems not to blow with battery problems like shorted cells then some fusing between the alternator (stator) and the regulator would be in order. Or just replace the Kymco reg-rect before it destroys the stator.
