Cobra Cross seat and latch problem
« on: September 09, 2017, 03:59:40 PM »
After recently restoring a1978 Sachs moped i got the bug.  I was fortunate to find a low mileage 2002 Kymco Cobra Cross.  A fun machine!  The only problem i'm having is the seat!?  With the seat down and latched, as soon as I sit on the seat (225lb) the seat base flexes and releases from the latch?  The latch is not worn and returns to its most forward position.  The mating hook on the seat base is not worn either.  I have tried stuffing additional weatherstripping between the seat base and the cargo bin with no success.  Has anyone come across the problem, and have a fix?  Thanx.

Well I fixed it.  Removed the seat and its hinge.  The hinge has two mounting holes, and one index hole.  I elongated all three holes about 3/16" which allows the seat to be moved back further into the latch!  Problem solved.
