Rear caliper movement
« on: October 14, 2017, 09:01:10 AM »
For some time now, a few months, a loud rattling noise is heard at the rear of the scoot, when at just above idle, and scoot is moving.
As soon as I touch the rear brakes it is gone, but it comes right back.
Sometimes I can feel a binding in the brake feedback.
The mechanic said he heard it and greased up the moving parts in the clutch.
But the noise remained after his remedy.

Yesturday, I finally managed to replicate it with the scoot on its centre stand.
Definately rear caliper.
I can take hold of the outermost part, and visibly move it up and down.
I think this indicates the pins are worn, or some type of rubber support(think floating) is perished or missing.

I know the brakes won't fail, and I could carry on like this, but is there any way to limit damage if there is, or replace a part or two.?
The spring is in place.

What say you?

My 500i does the same...  I haven't worried too much about as my scoot gets moving it stops.  It happens at slow speeds.
