Daughter keeps asking me why I ride miles away and then sit outside in the Ohio winter to drink my coffee, then ride miles home.
"Why don't you sit inside like a normal person?"

Well, I like being outside...plus - it's bad enough that I go into village shops dressed like a Russian astronaut doing a space walk - but it would be embarrassing to start piling all my gear onto tables.  I'd quickly overheat, otherwise.
The gear you need for winter temps at 40mph just doesn't jive with the indoors.
So, I  do have a reason for being weird!

Rode to coffee village...sitting...
Thought of another reason to stay outside. I would never have befriended these 5 other "street characters" in the village.
Sill trying to connect with guy* who carries the basket ball everywhere, and the kid* who stomps every step.
So, not done socializing with 'my people'.

Some of us just like our solitude. There's being alone, and being lonely. I often go out to breakfast alone because I arrive in the city where I work well before it's time to teach a class. I do the same at bookstore cafes, or go to a movie by myself. I'm fine with it. Conventional wisdom is just conventional, and common sense is just common. Think outside the box and discover something or someone new.

Hey, at our age, we don't need a reason for being weird - it just comes naturally. 
And your daughter sounds a lot like mine; non-scooter riders just don't get it.

There's a quote that states "Conform and be dull." Your daughter is blessed to have a father who is neither. She may never understand it, but she will come to appreciate it.
