Kymco battery problem

I am grumpier, proud owner of  one kymco 300 downtown.
A few  days ago my battery went totally flat, it's partially my fault due to not using it and lot, and I want to buy a new one which one should I buy? : I found two types maintenance free and with acid. I tend to lean toward the maintenance free but I am not sure about the type of battery to buy.
Any help is appreciated, I live in the UK but I am not from there so I don't know where to buy a battery

I just replaced my stock kymco battery,on my 2012 Downtown 300i. It was a kymco GT12a-bs. It is really your choice of which battery you prefer,just make sure that it’s the same size. Here in the states,there are many places to get a replacement battery. Any motorcycle or scooter shop,should have them in stock. Online,they run about $25-$30 USD. Not sure what the mark up is at a shop.Also,once you get the battery,make sure to get a battery tender,to keep it charged,especially if your not using it on a regular basis

Thanks for the reply, so the correct battery is yt12a-bs?.
I have also been given by a friend a YTX12-BS battery, is this one OK for size, voltage etc  for the kymco downtown 300?

Also to every battery I buy, must I add acid?

That battery should work, as long as it fits in the battery compartment, even if it is a little bigger, it’s gonna be a pain to get it in. I believe that battery is maintenance free, so you don’thave to add anything

I asked about the acid because the battery I ordered from amazon arrived with electrolytes to add{sulfuric acid} then seal it and its ready. Do I need to charge it before, or can I use it straight away?

you can check if it needs a boost , put a charger on it , If  it charges leave it for 12 hours, It will take about a week of riding to get the battery to full charge, they need to learn just like kids,  like tires need to be broken in when new,  about 100 miles,.

As soon as the yt12a-bs (yes I ordered one to be sure} arrives I will try it with the scooter.

Since my scooter battery  "died" at friends place, I'll have to put it without charging, I need to bring the scooter home.

I will try to charge the battery later on.

Every battery that I had to add the sulfuric acid needed charged before use

YUASA battery from AMAZON, come charged and sealed, can be laid on side (as in a Burgman 400)

I had a Motobatt MBTX-9U, ran for a few years before the regulator failed and it went flat.

Here is what I have for batteries.
Battery         Kymco  GT12A-BS,       Xtreme  XTA12A-BS

Replaced with the Extreme which looked identical, but I could not squeeze it past
the security (brass colored) brackets.   I took an angle grinder and cut some of the
bracket off.

i Apologize for the delay, the scooter is fine i just used the yuasa battery.

1)opened the scooter
2) put in the battery

3) Profit
