Try Fastenal.com for weird hardware
« on: January 19, 2018, 02:40:36 AM »
Several weeks trying to run down all the necessary hardware to test a set of billet mirror extenders on my scooter.
I needed a set of extenders with M8 threads; 2 M10x1.25x25 allen head cap bolts; a pair of M10 to M8x1.25 conversion pieces. Plus add that a couple of these bits must have reverse threads --- and it gets sporty.

I sourced parts from China & the U.K. & USA to get close to the finish line....and then found the missing pieces on ebay - until receiving a call from the seller 2 days ago , saying "bolt is out of stock".
Weeks ago local Fastenal store said no M10 fine thread cap screws...only the coarse.
Two days ago I  checked Fastenal.com ....found the screws ! -- and they were delivered in 48hrs tonight! Less than a dollar ea.!
If I get it all together, I will post a DIY on the Vespa site, with parts sources....so save the next guy so much effort.
BUT, if you need some strange Euro-common-only hardware...do give the Fastenal web site a check.
(some of delay was due to slow holiday mails)

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Absolutely, positively! To steal a promo line from FedEx. Some Fastenal stores will even do onsie-twosies for us home inventors-modifiers. I have a back-burner project that needs stainless panel screws from the forties and Fastenal has them! They hold a radio-like device in a metal box. I will have to get these online like you did. Good show!
