Kymco Like 200i -Question about a bolt/screw
« on: February 27, 2018, 03:08:32 AM »
Hi all,

Does anybody know the purpose of the long screw directly under the headlight casing/reflector and accessible with a long screw driver through the faring?
I removed it when I was figuring out how to replace the head-lamp and forgot to put it back before taking the bike out.  The head of the screw was to large to pass through the faring slit so the bolt was loose inside.

Should I be concerned?

Thanks, Jon

Turns out after writing the previous post and then deciding to go down to the street with a flashlight to take a look.  The screw was just resting in the slit in the faring, so I screwed it back in place.

Still interested in its purpose if anybody knows.

The screw accessed by screwdriver  through the plastic fairing below headlight  is for headlight adjustment......raise or lower headlight aim. No adjustment is avail. for left/right aiming of light beam.
Screwing it in lowers the light beam....out - raises the light beam.

It is not necessary to turn this screw during bulb replacement.

PS: I've found that raising the light beam does not much improve night riding visibility. The area in front of the scooter only gets darker. The light is not bright enough....IMO pretty much any speed over 30>35mph is out-driving your light at night.

Yeah,

It was a problem all winter in the city, especially in the night rain. And now with the late winter road conditions treacherous at best, full of deep pot holes and ice heaves I had to get it changed out asap.  So with the weather dry and 50 degrees yesterday, I changed it to LED.

The LED seems to help a lot, though I have yet to drive it in inclement weather surely I'll have the opportunity later this week as there is a lot of rain in the forecast and I have a busy work week.  I'll let you know how it goes.

I think ultimately though the flaw lies not so much on the lamp, but on the design of the Like's reflector, it's just not very effective at putting light where you need it; hopefully they updated that on the new 2018 model.

Thanks again, Jon
