Broken 'down'town again.
« on: February 06, 2018, 11:11:21 AM »
So yeah. Here I am again stuck on the side of the road, lucky managed to reach a petrol station.

Riding home, the bike hesitated with the engine and battery light appearing for a split second, then she came back to life.

Stopped at the petrol station, shut her down and tried to restart. Cranking was weak and it wasn't able to start. No battery low light.

Waiting now for the tow truck.

FML.

Man, that's gotta be a bummer!
Charging system failure, or bad battery?
Good luck.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Waited an hour for the tow truck, got it to the workshop.

Their diagnosis is that the starter had eaten the dust. Doesn't explain why she was cutting out while riding.

Regulator is fine.
Also the magneto was replaced about 3 months back.

Could be a bad battery connection or faulty ECU/fuel relay. I changed my 12V 8A ECU relay for a 30A relay because it 'buzzed' on start and failed to turn over.

Sounds like an issue I had a while back. Turned out my spark plug cable was coming loose and that’s all it was.
