700i power steering
« on: February 28, 2018, 05:14:50 AM »
I think I am finally gonna take the leap amd buy a utv. Looking at the 700i. My question to those that have driven both with and without power steering is, does it really make a huge difference? A $1400 difference?

Can't speak for the 700 model as I have a 450i model.  I can tell you this, on the 450i I can steer with one finger while in 4wd diff lock!  I have no idea why anyone would want to spend the money for power steering. Not only the cost but it is electronic so that means future repairs down the road, especially after going thru mud and water. I would test drive a model without it and see if it is difficult especially in 4wd diff lock mode as this will be the most difficult mode of steering. I am 68yrs old and can steer my machine with one finger so I have no reason to want power steering.

I have the UXV500I and it's like airshot said, but mine takes a little more effort in either 4 wheel or 4 wheel lock. But then I'm 77 so my finners ain't as strong as his!

Thanks for the input fellas. I think I would rather put that money into other upgrades.

Get a new base model 700i UXV in the color of your choosing. It has all the main features and upgrades that the other models in the lineup have. For 2018 the curved or rolled the a arms for better stability and ground clearance an handling. Finally put a true full size sport bucket seat in them. Changed the roll cage some. New high performance shocks. A base 700i is without question the Best Buy in the industry for what you get. Can always add the power steering kit later if you feel you need it. Get the 700i put a winch on roof and windshield of you choosing. And some doors. Oh and mirrors too! Kymco has a set of doors for them if you can find a set.  Now I say all that coming from a 450 uxv owner. I love my 450. But I have really been debating hard about trading in for a 700. The entire 2018 Kymco off road is vastly improved over prior years. Again getcha a base model 700i for msrp of 8999 and never look back!

Bought my 700 last year and I will add power steering at some point for sure before I put bigger tires on it. It really isn't bad but all day on the rocks it wears this old man out.

That’s understandable. Sometimes life gets in the way
