Kymco dink (spacer) 50 headlight doesn't work
« on: May 04, 2018, 11:24:17 AM »
I have issue with headlight on my dink 50 2t 50ccm scooter.

Headlights do not work at all. All other lights are working including passlight which is actually high beam.

I have checked regulator and it is ok. Also resistors are ok. Bulb is brand new.

What could be the issue?

Hi!

So, just to clarify, if  you flash the pass light that works, but if the headlights are on at the headlight switch it doesn't work? Either high nor low beam?

Pass light always works when pass switch is used regardless of headlight switch position (on/off).

But high or low beam newer works.

That's pretty weird. You know it's not a bulb holder issue or a bad earth as all those connections share the bulb holder and earth.

The only thought I'm having is that it sounds most likely to be a switch problem. I've had a quick look at a Grand Dink on Youtube - is the high/low switch on the left, and the headlight/sidelight switch on the right?

I don't think you're getting any power into the headlight/sidelight switch. I'd try to find the plug for that switch, which is most likely behind your front panel, and pop it apart for a clean. The best case scenario is that it just needs a scrub!

So, for starters just pull the bulb, turn on the switch and see if you have power to the socket???

That's no what I meant. If we know the bulb is OK - which it is, because you're getting the flasher to work - I think the problem *could* be where your right hand switch gear (if you're sat on the bike) plugs into the main wiring loom. This is probably under the front panel, and often is a little 9x9 pin white block thing!

I can take a photo of my demonstrator if it helps, but it's not a Dink!
