Ah, no.
« on: May 12, 2018, 08:39:15 PM »
But thanks for the photo op.

I rode on down the street …..

...to have a cup of joe with the strange-lings.

Got a toot and a wave from a youngster on a big adventure bike.
And then a low-two from a HD rider on the ride home.

It was 70°F at 5:15 this morning. I knew that would bring out a mess of bikers. At 7:30 they showed up!

Something about this hotel makes me think of a river boat, or Gone With The Wind.

Why wouldn't you have a coffee there Stig?  Looks like a great place to visit.

Well, not to throw donuts - but we have had two lunches, three breakfasts and several cups of coffee on their very nice front porch.
The food was fine, if pricey --- the coffee was a disaster. I only drink strong coffee, with a touch of cream. Their coffee is weak and they serve fat-free skimmed milk in the little cream pitcher.
My daughter refused to let me donate a quart of half and half to the kitchen. 2 blocks down the street to Tom's market...I'd could have been back in a jiffy!
The three coffee houses,( and a Khmer Rouge VW bus) within 3 blocks of this hotel, serve rich coffee and real cream in the dispensers.
Admittedly it has been months since I stopped at the hotel, maybe I'll park my scooter out front and go in - geared up - to try a cup on their veranda again.
I'm a delicate & sensitive guy - if they all dive behind the counter in response to my balaclava & helmet - I'll walk right back out.

BTW, old Joe got a chuckle when I wished him "happy mother's......day", this morning.
☺

Must admit, if I buy a horrible coffee from somewhere I don't give them a second chance.

For some, no coffee, no talkie. It's all about the java.

Actually lately instead of coffee I have been getting a pot of English Breakfast tea and a slice of cake or something to go with it.   Thursday mornings I usually go to a small cafe not far away and have poached eggs and a pot of tea.  Very relaxing whilst reading the morning paper.  I only like going to quiet cafes as I am not a real crowd person.

I get that - I prefer a quiet bite to eat or a coffee when I'm out and about, not that I wake up early enough to do any of this.

I aspire to these levels of sophistication!
