Headlights, not my imagination
« on: May 28, 2018, 11:20:41 AM »
Was thinking that my 2018 Liberty150i, Piaggio had a fresher electrical system than my 6 yr old LIKE200I. ....because the headlights were so different for night riding.
Or maybe it was an improved reflector design in the Piaggio - because my LIKE200i has a lot more cca in the YUASA  battery?

Nope - Piaggio bulb is a 60/55W, Kymco has a 35/35W bulb.
So, not my imagination! Piaggio lights the road much better.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I'm not a fan of the 35W headlights, especially in the transition from city lighting to unlit regional park.  :)

I used to sneak 55W automotive bulbs in and watch the housing carefully. I like that LED bulbs are becoming more commonly available, but without a properly designed reflector housing and cutoff I imagine they simply throw out a lot of glare.

Both Stig and I use a Philips City Vision globe in our Likes and they are designed to stand out more than normal globes plus are suppose to be 40% brighter than the standard globe but good to see Piaggio is using stronger globes.

Paul, I  did notice my light's faint orange glow on the back of a van at a stop light the other morning. Usually it is not so noticeable when I try to look at it.
Anything that catches the eye of a driver is a plus for me.

I notice mine in the reflection of cars in front of me all the time.  I tried their blue vision but prefer the orange one.
