AGILITY 16+ 50 25km/h HELP me tune.
« on: September 22, 2018, 01:57:00 PM »
Hey all, I have a 2014 Agiltiy 16+ 4t it is the 25km/h restricted model. I was wondering if someone can help me identify all the restrictions on the bike.

So far my mods are

-Unrestricted (remote switchable CDI)
-Malossi multivar kit, (white spring and included rollers)
-Malossi fly clutch kit (white springs) and bell
-Malossi X Kevlar belt
-Naraku twist control (twisting plate for torque spring)

Planned mods are.

Torque driver
Upgraded carb, bigger jets
Free flow air filter
Exhaust
Naraku racing ignition lead high output and irridium spark plug

If I install all of the above will I have missed any restrictions, are there any restrictions regarding throttle housing, manifold, piston cylinder? Also if anyone has any recomendations on my planned mods, exhaust etc, please tell me. Thanks everyone for you're responses.

Ah, yes. The San Francisco hill model... Do you plan to add ALL of these mods at one time?

Yes I live in Amsterdam, Neatherlands, here with have a category of scooters that are allowed on cycle paths, they are denoted by having blue license plates and are "supposed to be restricted to 25km/h"  many people derestrict them, if the police see and/or suspect you doing 35km/h+ on this category of scooters, they may possible stop you and put you're scooter on a roller to test the speed, hence the need for a remote switchable CDI, every time the bike starts it is restricted, until you press a button which maps the CDI to unrestricted, so if police stop you for example you can quickly  turn you're bike off and hide said remote, if and when they turn the bike on and put it on the roller it appears restricted. You can of coarse but the regular version of said scooter here, but it is not allowed on cycle paths and public walk ways ( which in amsterdam is a MASSIVE perk because you can take shortcuts etc)

I understand you are going to tell me off for this but, YES, that's why I came here to ask first incase anyone has already done this same setup or something similar essentially allowing me to just install it without the guess work, the thing is also Its the first time I have tuned a scooter and I do not have access to a work place, so I was indeed kind of hoping someone would come along and say, "use these colour springs with the fly clutch and this colour torsion spring with that setup. It wasnt out of being lazy, if I lived in a suburbia I wouldn't have asked for any help here, I would have some fun tuning it myself, unfortunately that's not my current circumstance, thanks for you're time.

I really need to stop saying things to be humorous since they seem to fall flat or worse like this! Had no idea that there existed a scooter restriction to 25 kph for any reason. It makes sense the way you explain the bike paths. The remote control CDI was another thing I  never knew existed! I really DO UNDERSTAND having no place to work and having to have the vehicle ready to roll! Some of my best work was in an exposed driveway! That's one good reason to do one mod at a time so if it does not work you can put it back together before sunset. Recommend you write down each change, what the bike did before and after each change.

Same with me, Crossbolt.  My midwest perspective I suppose.

Crossbolt I'm no a pro grease head so PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the tuning in stages be counter intuitive, I.e. I set my malossi multivar up, change rollers a few times until I have a setup that works good and then I install the malossi fly clutch and everything is out of balance again? Wouldnt it be better to install everything and then find the best roller potential and after that move on to fine tuning clutch springs and after finding the best setup with that, move on to torsion spring etc etc, if this is making hard work for myself please let me know, also I have another question, would aspiration tuning be better to do before transmission, I imagine YES? Thanks again.

There are exceptions to everything. What I am thinking is the BAD experiences suffered by many is the performance is worse after a bunch of changes were made and the tuner man has no idea why or which change made the performance poorer. One of the first places to start is jetting. The 50's are run very lean for the restrictions. If an #80 main jet is in there put in #82. Judge the performance by feel or by a stopwatch. Then put in the smooth boss. Then the new CDI, each time record the response. That is kind of what I am suggesting. Each change can be done in the driveway or car park and be completed before sundown so the machine can be ridden to work tomorrow. Hope that helps.

Okay crossbolt I'll do it that way, also I'm really not sure which exhaust to get, it has to be discreet as possible but at the same time something that makes the rest of these upgrades not just a restricted waste of money, any ideas anyone?

Okay so per you're advice I installed the multivar today I DID NOT install the white torsion spring that came with it because I did not have the tools to remove the clutch, installed the correct malossi xk  belt also, it's added around 8km top end, but the acceleration has become non existent, before the multivar the acceleration was not terrible, but now even if I pull full throttle it feels like the bike has no acceleration and no power and feels like it stays at a low rpm for 4 seconds? Could someone please give me some advice thanks.

Basically the bike just revs low and does nothing for a couple of seconds before moving and picking up revs

but the acceleration has become non existent

These issues can be time-consuming if you're doing many changes at one time.  The advice above was to do ONE change at a time, making careful notes.  Anyway, your present problem could be the variator roller weights are too heavy.  Variator rollers for a 50cc-80cc will be about 6.5g each, not more than 7gm. The contra-springs should be left alone for now.

If you'r good at math, you can deduce the complexity of what you're trying to do.  For example, there may be 10 different cylinder kits from different makers, 5 different cylinder heads, 5 different roller models, 8 different variators, 6 different drive belts, 3 different clutch springs from 6 different makers, 8 different clutch types, and 6 different rear axle gear sets.  Already you're looking at over 100 million combinations.  You can see why it makes sense to try one thing at a time.
