rough initial running after sitting a few weeks
« on: June 21, 2018, 12:39:52 AM »
hey guys, just what the title says...I don't get the chance to ride my People S200 more than about once every 3 weeks (but when I do..I remember why I love it!) The other day it fired up easily but idled a little rough...and it took about 3-5 mins before I could give it gas (on the center stand) without it killing.

I'm assuming the old gas sitting in the bowl for 3 weeks at a time (non ethanol gas treated with Marine stabil, but it's still the final fill tank from last Fall) is probably not good. Just wondering if this sounds like a typical carb starting to be in need of a cleaning? Bike is a 2010 with 2400 miles and I'm sure carb has never been touched.

(I don't ride the scoot much as most of my riding time is spent on my motorcycle...but I remember why I love the scoot when I'm riding it..there is something very enjoyable about twisting the throttle and just going..nothing else to worry about and only need 2 hands to start and stop and ride)

Put some Gum Out carb and fuel injector cleaner in your gas. Take your scoot out and run the sh** out of it. See if that helps. Could be something as simple as carbon build up or goo in your carb..
You just reminded me. I need to run some through mine.

Do the easy stuff first.#1 (Crappy-gas) Drain the winter stuff out. (I do). #2 Plug (Ya only got 1) Buy her the best you can find. She deserves it. (You can "Ride" her any time. She never says; "NO!")

Me too.

Gas, not an issue. Have plenty of it. Ask my dog.

thanks, guys. I'll try to run her a little more to burn through last years gas. I don't keep it on a charger but hook it up about once a week to the battery tender and charge until the light stays solid green. The clock seems to slowly drain the battery on the scoot over time if left uncharged.

I'm not certain it's the same on the s200, but on the People 250, the clock has its own battery.

fired the scoot back up after only sitting for a few days and it started and idled just fine...put about 12 or 13 miles on it...much of it at full throttle. Guess I just need to keep riding it and burn up that old gas!
