Kymco super 8 50 2t running issues after upgrade
« on: February 25, 2018, 06:15:31 AM »
Hi guys,
Apologies if it’s already been requested but I’m at a loss and at the point of giving in !!HELP !!
I have changed the piston to a 70cc naraku one new gaskets etc and changed the carb to a naraku 17.5mm electric choke version with the same attachments for the old choke.
I have got it running with the air screw fully in then adjust out to try and see if the engine will increase revs. (No change)
Take it down the road and imparts it will rev and accelerate well for a few seconds then splutter I have to ease off from WOT and it will go back to idle. Sometime it will die and will restart after a second or two.
Is this a jetting issue or something else ?
Thanks in advance

My first trouble shooting move would be to reinstall the old carb and see if things work correctly again. If yes, you know it is some type of carb issue. What size pilot jet and main jet came with the new carb?  I am running a 35/85.

Do you have a translucent fuel line going into the carb?  If yes, look to see if there is fuel in it near the carb when the scoot dies.

I just installed a 70cc BBK in my Cobra and did not change anything other than the piston/cylinder. Same 14mm carb. Same air intake. Runs great.

Did you fix this issue? Im having a similar issue, only difference is Ive changed the carb to a 19mm one with auto choke from ebay. In my case I took out the reed cage and noticed my reeds were F%$#ED huge gap. Ive ordered a new one from Kymco, since there are no aftermarket replacement reeds and Kymco only sells the complete reed cage with reeds only.

Let me know what you did, Im curious.
