Any machinists on the board?
« on: July 05, 2018, 03:26:20 AM »
As in, active, working, has-a-lot-of-machine-tools machinists?

I have a part that I'd like to have made, and it's way beyond my ken.
Two things to consider...
1) The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse always gets the cheese.
2) Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet engines.

I shaved the variator slides with a 1 / 2 " belt sander, it fits very well,   and by hook or crook it worked,  made a template of wHAT I wanted, a curve ,  so the variator was on and off over 20 times, that's what happens when you don't know what you are doing, but do it any ways,.

A pretty darn impressive one, with that alternative engineering...

My task isn't nearly that complex. All I need is an aluminium bar, about 1" in diameter, with one end slightly chamfered, and the other end made with a flat spot and a hole. I'd post a drawing, but I haven't had the time to make one.
