No it is not 33ps. Check out at taiwan's website. They change it in last minute after a product recall for downtown 300i.

From now on the official spec will be 28ps and 2.7kgm.

... (in Taiwan no motorcycle, regardless of power, is allowed to use the highway!) ...

This is no longer true.  As of last year, "large, heavy" motorcycles (those with more the 550cc displacement) can use all highways except the National Highways (equivalent to Interstate Highways in the U.S.).  This change in the law opens up many expressways to motos.  Such "large, heavy" motos receive a red license plate and must park in car stalls, cannot lane split, and cannot use scooter boxes at intersections (typically, enforcement of the last three items is lax).  Riders of red plate bikes must pass a driving test using a "large, heavy" moto.  The 650cc maxi-scooters (there are not many in Taiwan) have red plates and can use the same highways as red plate motorcycles.

I called Kymco USA today.  The Downtown 300i will hit US shores in July/August 2010, and will be a 2011 model.

There's no word on the Xciting 700i.

Kymco Croatia has published prices for year 2010.

Downtown 125i=6158 US$ + registration and insurance
Downtown 300i = 7500 US$ + registration and insurance
Xciting 500 Ri= 9043 US$ + registration and insurance

Downtown 300i costs like the smallest car (900 cc Chevrolet Spark) while Xciting 500 has the same price like Kawasaki ER-6N (72 hp, 192 km/h).

MSRP for ER6-N is 6400 US$ in the USA, which is close to Downtown 125i in Croatia.

Just poke the ground hog w/ a sharp stick. That should get you 1/2 way there!

In Taiwan, the Downtown 300i has been renamed the Nikita 300, and is now in dealer showrooms.
The lowest advertised price I've seen in Taiwan is NTD 188K, which is about USD 5,875.

I doubt there will be a name change for N.Am.

Hi All
Can anyone help me out with this one. I read on the Kymco web-site that the wheel/Rims on the Downtown 300i are made of Nylon, is this true? I'm just hoping it's a typo because I would love to get one when it hits the states.

Thanks
