Zx 50 - No tail & plate light!! Pls help!

HI guys. I'm having issues with my '04 zx50 (euro wiring): All the lights work except taillight & licence plate light. I couldn't unplug the plate light, it seems stuck. The major problem is the tail lights - I have replaced one bulb (the other is ok) but i still have only the stop lights. Does anyone know the possible cause???

if your headlight, brake lights work, then it has to be the bulbs..replace the bulbs and spray the connections with  some wd40..... i had some bulbs that looked good but werent one time...just for thhe sake of argument, i would also look at all my wires to just make sure ones not broke, cut, rubbing and grounding out..but if all others work....bulbs....

Check the fuse, tail light is on a diferent circuit than the head light, also check wiring connections are clean and connecting properly.

remember mine were out also and it was bulbs...i did not know it was a different circuit..ALL mine were gone at one time.... there is a thread in the zx section

Yeah, the headlight runs of the generator and the tail lights are battery powered. Yes, you are right, I think there was a thread about this, but I haven't been able to look for it yet, been busy wasting time and work and dollars on my car.

yeah, i believe its the "zx may have light problems" thread, it wws a big help to me for sure....        is it just me or are have you been having a fit with that car for a bit now...sorry to hear that....

No, no real trouble with it, I have just ignored it for the past year or so, thanks to a particular scooter. It starts and runs well whenever I want to use it, which is not very often. One thing that broke was the airmix shaft for the heaters. This is a common fault with this model. Being a complete dash out job the dealers are charging up to $900 to replace a part worth abou $40. I did it my self and saved that money. Will include two pics to give you an idea.

Hey gogo, sorry about the threadjack. Just put one more in for ya batman, this pic shows the heater box, the white shaft that you see is the one I had to replace. My work other than that has been purely cosmetic, just putting on some body trims. The first two pics, one was the whole dash removed to gain access and the second one was when it was all back together.

  I'd always break something trying to figure it out (plus i had no patience in the old days!)
