Battery discharging..
« on: December 18, 2018, 08:10:18 AM »
The battery of my X (2006) is discharging in less than 2 days. I changed the battery a couple of times.

What could this problem be other than a bad battery?

Bad stator or failed regulator-rectifier.

You said in your original post, "I CHANGED the battery a couple of times". This means several batteries, so they can't all be bad. Therefore it must be another problem, like suggested by CROSSBOLT.
I would think that the battery light should be on if the stator or regulator totally failed, but if just partially (on their way out condition) faulty, then the battery might stop be getting a charge but not enough.
You need to get out the mulitimeter, and start checking what voltage you are getting at the battery at idle, and when revving.
That is as far as my knowledge goes.

It will make sense to remove the battery and to charge the battery with a battery charger untill the battery is fully charged. Then you need to take the battery to a battery dealer to do a proper load test on the battery. The battery dealer will tell you whether the battery is faulty or not.

It is important to know that a load test can not be done on a battery if the battery is not fully charged. Therefore it will be better if you get the battery charged before you visit the battery dealer.

The first thing you actually need to do after the battery passed a load test, is to find out whether the battery gets charged when the engine is running:

If the battery is not charging you can do a test on the voltage regulator / rectifier:

If the voltage regulator / rectifier is not faulty you can do a test on the stator :

I hope this helps.

Probably the stator? But is your seat closed? If not, the light stays on and will kill the battery real quick.  :-*

I unplugged my under seat light after about the 3rd time my battery went dead. You can close seat, pull up on it to make sure it is all the way down and locked, and a latch can/will still let loose on one side, and the light will come on and kill the battery. Carry an LED flash light and unplug light. Not worth it. :-*

Bad stator or failed regulator-rectifier.

It was the rectifier. Changed it for a € 18,- universal one and all works fine; the battery doesn't discharge anymore.
