Stig doesn't suffer fools as well now...
« on: September 15, 2018, 12:01:26 PM »
Must be an age thing....most of the griping going on here is from us older members. (Notice the same on Burgman forums..one doesn't see many youngsters on the Lardy)

Kid plopped down next to me this morning wanting "a light". Then asked me to buy him one, when I said that I don't have one.
I said, "no, smoking is something I don't encourage."
Turns out he needed it for his joint.
That ended our interaction.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Alas, another lost soul, to wander and wonder why his life is so miserable. Passed you by, the very person who could answer his mysteries. Maybe he will one day have absolutely nothing left of his efforts, no place to turn except one and then be born again to really live, he will remember perhaps you and your message and perhaps all who gave him the message. Then he may start to really live. You have done your part and have done it well.

This has been a description of what happened to me. I recall several like you who tried to deliver the message.

I wish I’d known as much as I know now back when I was young and knew “everything”. Lol.

I have absolutely no issues with saying, "I don't know."
But, in the military you had to add, "...but I'll go find out, Sir!"

(then you go 'round back of the mess hall and have a Dr. Pepper until the idiot leaves)

I’m longing for the days when idiots would leave. Now they just hang out. Lol

Here's another incongruous anecdote: In Vietnam, young Lieutenants used to get a lot of grief for blustering their way through uncertainty.
But, thank God, not all Ring Knockers (WestPointers) were so pompous.
Our new LT was on the radio calling in artillery support for us one miserably hot afternoon. Holding the map in one shaking hand and the mic in the other….sweat pouring off his face....he looked up into the Heavens and …….admitted he didn't know for sure where the hell we were.

Bless his young heart, he probably saved us all from destruction.

"It is good to know when you don't know.".....I think Bob Dylan said that.
