Tips

Bought a second hand downtown 300. Changed all the fluids and adjusted the tappets.
I changed the seat light to have a switch next to the light which is a lot better. I disconnected the microswitch for the seat and soldered some more wire and connected it to the switch next to the light.
Bought a tyre repair kit for $7 and a small air compressor from eBay for about $17 packed it with a small squirt bottle with detergent and crayon and strapped it behind the plastic on one side of the scooter. On the other side I made a comprehensive tool kit which sits nicely even though I have to remove the tub seat to access them they are only for emergencies. A smaller tool kit is under the seat with first aid kit, torch, knife, charger and strap including duct tape. I glued Velcro under the seat so the first aid kit doesn’t slide around.
Im considering some nylon pannier bags, wondering if anyone uses them.

"Torch," "pannier," should be a give-away! However, welcome! You have an excellent machine, in my not-so-humble opinion! The DT300I is a very roadable machine, a love at first ride. Very sharp dditions you have made to yours. You may want to modify the wiring a bit before you plug that compressor (if it is 12 volt) into that outlet! You will enjoy this bunch here as they are mellow and helpful. I would wager we will be learning from you, shortly! By the way, Stig is one of the "go-to" guys here. Check some of his pictures! Some others are rivaling his skills with a camera!

"Tyre" is a dead giveaway too...
Welcome aboard, fellow modifier. Hope you enjoy that DT300!
Two things to consider...
1) The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse always gets the cheese.
2) Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet engines.

Thanks for the replies I’m from Australia. I bought the bike second hand only 14000km but the previous owner did not look after the bike really well storing it outside. It’s getting a new lease on life. I love scooters and regularly go to Thailand riding a scooter in the countryside and city. I will be there in August and September my previous bike was a kymco 125 super 8. I loved the bike my daughter owns it now I’m 61 and committed scooterholic.

Mr. Karl,

Don't make too much. Suzie is the only one who's allowed to drink coffee. She's almost 10.

Welcome dogs,

If that notoriously uncomfortable saddle becomes a problem for your buns, ebay has an air inflatable cushion for $70 that made my DT a pleasure on longer trips. It fits perfectly on that lower small stiff patch for the rider.

Another option is to get a silicon pad to add to the foam cushion.
