My experienc is that after you get to know your scooter, a weekly safety check is sufficant. That is... if you are up on all routine maintanece. I am a daily rider (200 miles a week just to get to/from work) so I have a intimate relationship with my scooters and usually detect problems before they become hazards. Everyone, have a great labor day weekend!!

Protective gear and checking will not prevent hitting the ground. If somebody wants to be sure it will not happen again, the only way to go would be a cage, and even then you can get hurt or die.
A year ago I had an accident with my quad, rather nasty one.

Not riding when there is black ice on the ground will go a long way to preventing you from hitting the ground.

But there are only two types of riders - those who have hit the ground, and those who will hit the ground.

Protective gear can save your life. And prevent disabling injury. Like paralysis and broken bones and nice stuff like that. Wear your gear. And for Gods sake wear leather boots, NOT sneakers or flip flops. When I went down the insole of my boot was all scraped up, I was not. I would probably have an artificial foot if I was wearing sneakers.

Can anyone suggest a good brand of riding boots and pants, especially for anyone commuting to work and would want to wear them all day?
