After 3 fruitless phone conversations to city streets and city engineering depts., I just finished an eloquent (me thinks) email to my state's dept. of transportation, ODOT.
They just hung
one new speed sign on the road I ride to visit the nearby State Park on wintery days, like this.
One sign, "55MPH". And in American: that translates to "63>68MPH"!
The crazy thing is the signs on the other side of the road all read, "35MPH"....which is the way it has been for 25 years.
A short road, with 4 park entrances, a dam entrance & bait shop entrances on a sharp curve, walking paths, bike paths, etc., etc. The 55 increase is just as you approach an 11 lane intersection with Rt. 4....which is 35MPH on the far side!
And deer a plenty.
So, the 55MPH is a mistake by Moe & Curly, the State sign hangers? No, not according to the city guys. "Talk to ODOT."
So I did.
Me and St. Jude - we keep rolling along.
Hate to resort to naked picketing at the State House, in these temps.
