Riding...going places
« on: January 07, 2019, 03:02:21 PM »
I like to ride, been doing it everyday since 1955 for both fun and transportation......but do I see many people here actually riding?

As I do not plan trips=just go, still have some goals 2019 on my new Xtown 300I abs----one is probably Yellow Knife in NW Territories.....or at least until road gets so ruff, going on not fun.....this happened last year on ride to James Bay in Quebec (20 years ago on BMW K-75 road was smooth) this time (CB300F) road was in such bad shape turned around after 75 miles.

This year do more camping  as I am getting tired of India run dirty  motels.

For my Kymco---carry extra drive belt, just ride within  its designed performance envelop. Frequent oil changes as oil capacity is small---WalMart 10-40 has worked well for me that last 500,000 2 wheel miles. My bikes generally do not go back to dealers except for warranty work.

I will be 80 in May---age has nothing to do with riding, if you really want to do it.   Professional quality riding clothes... and rubber boots make the going more comfortable or bearable...  foam ear plugs work, too.   I tend to ride in all weathers...... and add no electronic junk to the bike.   Paper maps work for me.

Riding is what having a bike does it for me.

Having had the first 6 months of my life (I'm about 30, so not that old) where I haven't had to ride to work, I find that finding the time to ride is a whole different ball game than just enjoying the rides that you do anyway for work and things. Does that make sense?

Honda C70C (red, 1983)
