Replacing my Kenda tires
« on: August 30, 2010, 11:28:20 PM »
So I have put enough wear on the Kenda tires my People S 200 came with that I am thinking about some new tires. Though the Kenda tires were OK I'm thinking about getting a better quality all weather tire (as I live and commute in the wet pacific north west). What do you think of Kenda tires (quality, wear) and / or what would you recomend and what is available to fite the People S? Thanks for any help and info :)

My dealer stocks Avon Strykes, so that's what I have on  both bikes. The S200 definately rides SMOOTHER on these, as compared to the original tires. They seem to get very good ratings all over the net.

I did notice however that someone now makes a steel belted radial in this size. HMMM

If you had a chance to ride the original Kendas in the rainy weather you report, and had no issues with the handling, then I have to say: You could do a lot worse than the Kendas.

My P250 also had Kendas installed, OEM. The front tire I had to replace early, after a couple of repairs (plugs) due to punctures. The rear tire, I got about 14,000km wear out of it. So, they do last a good, long time. Of course, they aren't as grippy -- that's the trade-off.

I had the OEM Kendas when I bought my scoot with 16,000 km on bike.  I changed the rear at 21k and the front at about 30k.  I went to Shinkos based on pricing and the positive reviews the sports bike racers said about them as they were using them for their track day tires.  I wanted a tire they did not have a center groove as I felt i aggravated the cupping from front tire had. I have had no issues with the Shinkos.

I am not a huge risk taker but I am a big guy, ride pretty hard and have ridden as many as 400 miles in a single day on them.
