My 2019 Xtown now has 800 miles
« on: February 12, 2019, 05:55:50 PM »
With 800 miles, time to do 600 mile check---no known problems, do myself, check fluids/nuts, bolts, change engine and rear end oil.

So far ridden it in 5 states---Puig touring screen mounted, in real world is about 4-5 inches too high for safe operation for me, not really safe in mountains or at nite (back reflections), so before cutting it will go back to stock and probably add Laminar lip (bolted on) and see how it goes.  One real problem is the horizon---think you need to look over, end up looking thru (any amount) and head angle seems to follow that of shield.   What I want of air management is safe/calm no buffeting ride...don't care how it looks. All maxiscooters, except Vespa have problem....your head is too far from tip of shield.

In the process of getting my Givi E-46 box on, better for dog.  Ordered parts, got plate that works, rack does not--going to send rack back, put plate on, bolting box directly on plate.  Box has over 600,000 miles so I don't mind drilling a few more holes in it.

I am using 29psi in front, 33 in rear...seems to be working.

Performance fine for me....when ridden as motor scooter...some vibration at 65-70, solution is go faster or slower.

I screwed up, wanting to install my NEP cruise control----normal Japanese bike, just move rubber grip back a little.....not Kymco, grip throttle barrel are molded/glued in one piece-----ordered new parts from dealer this AM, $11, should have it by Friday--learned from dealer partsman today that Kymco requires min. of $20 order from them---he will take care of.

My Givi E-46 box now installed....better for dog than Bestem small $40 box.

Givi no longer sells direct retail----so they gave me phone number, I ordered, parts delivered.   Plate they sent bolts right up to rear wing----proper parts furnished for plate. Problem now, getting credit for wrong rack.

Wrong rack sent.  So I bolted/drilled, box directly to plate.   Box is 1998 model with probably 600,000 miles, so a few more holes drilled in it----did not hurt anything, bolts backed up with big fender washers.

Removed big Puig Windshield, back to stock and will probably order Laminar Lip.  Based on past experience, they work....a little. After locating, I drill and bolt them on....lost one, using their just stick on application----St Paul/rush hour/huge bump/Helix---lip flew off. Next one bolted on=no trouble.

Will do simple 600 mile check today---no valve adjust.
