Test rode Xtown 300i with my long serving Givi E-46 bolted solid to rear wing with Givi plate.....rack they furnished just did not work.... and I never need//use detachable box anyway.
The weight and size of box (loaded with dog) did not seem to bother handling....which is plus, as adding weight/maybe air drag behind
rear axle center can be like tying rock to rear of arrow. Box does not block rear view with stock mirrors.
Next: have removed Puig Touring Windshield as it is too high and has some funny back reflections. Use it again, have to cut 4-5 inches off top----so I can see over under all conditions. Stock shield back on, working with Laminar Lip, getting correct and most useful position.....when installed with their pads, I drill and bolt---then it will not fall off. Maybe it will work right.
Think decision makers in bike industry do not ride or ride enough. After 10 new maxi-scooters since 1990 and over 400,000 miles, they all needed after market shields for rider to get some sort of long distance comfort. Problem---you nose is too far from tip of shield. Honda did market one scooter in European market, 125 with shield mounted on handle bars.
Based on previous Vespa ownership--they can be made buffet free, because you sit close to tip of shield----but for me in US now, current Vespas are way over priced, no dealers, how about spare parts service and questional reliability.... and, oh,8,000 mile belt life!
