Keihin jets help
« on: September 10, 2010, 01:07:19 AM »
I have a People 150. I've installed a gianeli pipe and a ncy big bore kit (62mm) and it think I want to remove the airbox and go for a uni style filter instead. I know all these things mean that I should up jet my carb but I don't really know where to start. The scooter has a keihin VE carb. The manuel I downloaded says it should have a #110 main and a #35 Slow jet. How much should I go up (ballpark) and where do I get them? ???

Thanks for any info.

Couldn't tell you exactly, but check here for jets.  http://www.pjmotorsports.com/keihin-jets.html#main jets . Haven't had time to play with my people 150 yet. I'd think about 5-10 over.

Hey Art, you thought about taking that open air breather and moving to the side with a removable shield?  The black portion would be a cut up stock breather box where the white would be a custom shield for rain protection.  Might give better cold air like that.

As for upjetting, I'd start with five up on the main and possibly no more than five on the slow unless your idle is extremely lean.

I was thinking about that, but I'm in portland oregon. We measure the rain in feet not inches  ;D  But it's still a work in progress. I want a k/n in there eventually. Havn't played with a 4t in a long time(mostly 2t's) Ha! I got 5 bikes i'm working on 2 peoples 50 2t's,a people 150 and a 63 vespa vbb + the s200. This doesn't count the 7 I just moved to the shed for the winter (Honda's)  ::)  But i'm starting to like the s200 so might give it some more attention(Damn budgets!) I think ultimately a downtown 300 is in my future.
I kinda got lost on the jetting Thought I had gone to big but turned out the gas cap was not vented at all  ???  and rollers havnt showed yet so things are on hold a bit. Plus gotta get ready for winter, once the rain starts here I got all the time in the world to work on things. But got to get firewood and winterize first ;D

I wish my battery was in the floor like that.   Does anyone know exactly what the little canister in the fuel system does?

Ha! It  gets in the way of the sparkplug on the s200  :D  It's I believe a charcoal canister that will trap any bad or harmfull things from these gross polluters!  ;) (smog and evap from gas tank) I don't see any use for them if you plan on riding the thing in an upright position  ;) and has the potential to rob you of some performance.
The only reality I see is if your not useing enouph fuel(driving your hummer) They made these small motors require such things to make them less desireable. This is my opinion!!! But works for me. ;D
