Today begins final stage of trying to get buffet free ride from X-Town. OEM screen with Laminar lip works, but too narrow for real good use in cold/rain.
Bought Puig Touring shield---works but about 4 inches too high for safe use, looking over. Paid glass shop to trim the 4 inches off, they did nice job and plastic did not break. Put on bike.....great look over, some air spill over----going to try Laminar Lip this AM.
After 10 new maxi scooters and over 400,000 miles----I find each one I buy, I spend $200-$500 and time trying to get buffet free comfortable ride (for 8-10 hour days)....my base line for comparisions---BMW 500 equipped with Heinrich fairing and lowers (developed in the 1950's), or Vespa with right shield----secret here is nose being close to tip of shield.
Scooters and motorcycles need better development/design for weather protection/wind management....period. In Germany in the 80's I bought a new BMW R-80 RT---Windshield not perfect....then I noticed the cops had a different screen on the RT's----somebody must have complained and BMW did something to increase comfort for those using the bikes 8 hours a day.
Givi adjustable Windshield worked only ok on scooters they made it to fit----for me SilverWing 600, Burgman 400 and I forgot if worked on TMAX Yamaha. None are available in this market for Kymco.
With scooter market dead in US, I do not expect any new developments in scooter windscreens.
Kymco has real good and simple method of windshield mounting.
